Mersadies Sanders-Omerovic

DIRECTOR OF ADMIN & FINANCE

Mersadies was Tubman Health's first Operations Manager and second staff member in 2021. She got her start in nonprofit fiscal sponsorship and management through her work with the Alliance for a Just Society. With a deep passion for administrative systems, she thrives in bookkeeping and enjoys unraveling historically oppressive structures to adopt new ways of dignified and culturally sound administrative systems. Currently, Mersadies collaborates with an accounting team to support the financial health and wellness of Tubman's entities: the Healing House, Freedom Clinic, Capital Campaign, and Tubman Community Holdings LLC as land owners of the future Center.

As the face behind all things operations, numbers and administration, Mersadies is fueled by a love for streamlining processes, finding connection with community in unexpected ways, growing into the thrilling territories of development and fundraising, and she’ll never say no to a well-organized timesheet. Her alliance to health and wellness stems from a life-long connection and personal experience in the world of mental health and addiction that so desperately needs a Tubman Health. A graduate of the University of Washington in International Studies and Creative Writing, she wants nothing more than to give back to Seattle the access and resources it so greatly needs.

Proudly Black and a hint of Filipina, Mersadies is a dedicated mother of three babies (two kiddos and a buff pitbull named Velvet), a loving partner, daughter, sister and an advocate for pushing back against red tape, getting it done and giving style to the Black in Finance movement. She also identifies as a creative, an empath, a generational curse breaker, a MacGyver and a slight conspiracy theorist (she’s convinced flamingos aren’t real).  When she’s not immersed in an invoice or some tech, you’ll find her enjoying (very amateur) woodworking, crafting, thrifting, hunting down the perfect storage solution, or indulging in a five-star spicy Pad Wan Soon with her favorite people in the world - the Tubman Team. Mersadies is excited to continue her journey with Tubman and dedicates this work to every soul, spirit and body out there who is unapologetically seeking their own recovery and wellness.
