Karina Patel is a public health professional who leads communications and policy work at the Tubman Center for Health & Freedom. With a commitment to bringing people along on the Campaign for Health & Freedom, Karina amplifies the organization’s vision through engaging written, visual, and digital storytelling. Her work integrates the Tubman Voice across diverse materials — from website content and social media to policy briefs — making Tubman Health’s mission resonate with both grassroots supporters, funders, and policymakers alike.
Karina first joined Tubman Health as an intern, then became its inaugural fellow, and has grown within the organization ever since. (Fun fact: she made the logo!). She brings a robust public health background, holding a BA in Public Health-Global Health from the University of Washington and a Master’s in Public Health from George Washington University. Her foundation in journalism and writing enriches her ability to communicate about Tubman Health’s work clearly and compellingly.
Deeply committed to upstream solutions and policy change, Karina drives the organization’s policy and advocacy work, building strategic relationships at local, state, and national levels. Her work bridges research with policy, translating Tubman Health’s findings into accessible insights for varied audiences.
