Johnny Buck

UX DESIGN MANAGER

Johnny Buck (Wanapum and Yakama Nations) is an Indigenous UX Design Manager at the Tubman Center for Health and Freedom, where he leads the design and implementation of user-centered solutions and experiences to advance community health and social justice initiatives. With a strong background in Human-Centered Design and Engineering (HCDE) from the University of Washington, Johnny brings a unique blend of technical expertise and cultural sensitivity to his work.
Johnny is passionate about leveraging UX Research and Design to address systemic inequities, particularly in the Rainier Beach neighborhood of South Seattle. His role involves overseeing the design strategy for Tubman Health's digital and physical environments, ensuring that every interaction with the Center’s services is intuitive, accessible, and reflective of the diverse needs of the community.
In addition to his work at Tubman Health, Johnny serves as a Principal UX Design Consultant at Prplbluj and a Core Consultant at Front & Centered Coalition. He is deeply committed to empowering marginalized voices through collaborative design processes and has contributed to various projects that intersect technology, health, and social justice.
Johnny’s work is informed by a deep understanding of the intersections between health, community care, and design, which he continues to explore through ongoing projects like the Healing House, the Freedom Clinic, and the Future Tubman Center for Health and Freedom. His leadership and vision are instrumental in driving Tubman Health's mission to create a just and equitable healthcare system for all of our community members.
