Akia Harper

PATIENT EXPERIENCE NAVIGATOR

Akia is a Generation X native born and raised in the Historical Central District of Seattle, WA. She has built a diverse career with a singular mission: to help individuals find and elevate their best selves. Her journey includes working at HBCU Morris Brown College located in Atlanta, GA, where she served as an Administrator for Students, supporting students in navigating their academic and personal journeys. From there, Akia expanded her expertise into the fashion retail world, in sales and store management in the vibrant international hub of Atlanta, GA, while also styling some of your favorite luminaries.

She then spent five years at Nordstrom Flagship in Seattle, offering world-class customer service as a Personal Stylist. Her career evolved further at Amazon Fashion, where she merged her fashion acumen with technology, teaching AI and machine learning to understand style and went on to work on the New Seller Success team offering Business Development to support small/medium size businesses and entrepreneurs optimize their online stores for visibility and profitability through incentivized resources.

Akia is a certified Zola Experience Facilitator, a guided healing journey of grief and loss using a transformative, seven-session curriculum. This process not only addresses personal loss but also acknowledges and heals wounds of historical, cultural, and generational trauma.

From afar, Akia has observed and admired the conception of Tubman Health and Freedom, from protests, blaxanation initiatives to inform and educate our community during the Global Pandemic, to the creation of a service-based healthcare system. She is inspired by the organization’s mission and is proud to join this dynamic team of visionaries, freedom fighters, and advocates dedicated to providing innovative healthcare to our community.

In her current role as the first point of contact at Healing House, Akia is eager to contribute to the movement, working to dismantle the historical neglect and disproportionate distribution of healthcare services to marginalized Black and Brown communities and families. With passion and commitment, she is excited to help move this essential movement forward!
